Sun Protection Made Easy! 5 Tips for the Perfect Protection

After long periods of rain, those warm sun rays feel amazing – don’t they? But too much sun is one of the most common causes of premature skin aging, pigmentation spots, and wrinkles. Sun exposure is also a major trigger for the most common type of cancer: skin cancer.

That doesn’t mean you have to avoid the sun altogether. It gives us warmth, boosts our mood, and supports our immune system. You just need the right protection – and you can enjoy it safely.

Here are 5 tips to protect your skin optimally during summer.

1. Apply sunscreen daily – SPF 30 or higher

Even on cloudy days or when you’re just stepping out briefly, sunscreen should be part of your daily routine in summer. UV rays can damage unprotected skin in a short time.

Make sunscreen part of your morning routine to stay protected throughout the day. If you plan to spend time outdoors, reapply as needed.

During extended sun exposure, make sure to reapply regularly to prevent skin damage.

2. Use enough sunscreen

To properly protect your body, apply about one tablespoon of sunscreen to each of the following areas: both arms, torso, back, and each leg. It may seem like a lot, but it’s essential for effective protection.

Apply sunscreen about 30 minutes before sun exposure so it can fully absorb into the skin.

After swimming or exercising, reapply to maintain protection. When sunbathing, refresh your sunscreen approximately every 2–3 hours.

3. Avoid peak sun hours

UV radiation is strongest around midday, when the sun is at its highest point. During this time, it’s best to stay in the shade or take a break indoors.

4. Protect your eyes and lips

UV rays don’t just affect your skin – they can also harm your eyes. Choose sunglasses with proper UVA and UVB protection.

Your lips need protection too. Apply a nourishing lip balm, such as the Herbacin kamille Lip Balm, every couple of hours or whenever your lips feel dry. This helps prevent dehydration and keeps them soft.

5. Wear protective clothing

Whether you’re hiking, jogging, or paddling – clothing can provide effective sun protection. You don’t need special fabrics; loose, lightweight clothing works well. Covering your head is especially important. A cap or sun hat helps protect you from direct sun exposure.

With these tips, nothing stands in the way of safe and enjoyable time in the sun – except maybe the weather. Enjoy your sunny summer days!
