Are you already in vacation mode? Summer is finally here, and with it comes vacation season. Before long, the first travelers will be enjoying sunny beaches, exploring lush forests, or discovering impressive cities.
Planning plays an important role in creating the perfect vacation — both before and after booking. While flights and accommodations are usually researched, compared, and booked months in advance, the rest of the preparation is often neglected. It’s usually only shortly before departure that people start thinking about what actually needs to go into the suitcase.
We’ve put together five helpful tips so you can start your vacation feeling calm, organized, and relaxed!
Tip 1: Make a List!
Are you standing in front of your suitcase unsure of what to pack? Think things through beforehand and carefully write down everything you want to bring. A packing list can serve as both a general guide and a detailed checklist. That way, nothing important gets forgotten!
Ask yourself the following questions:
- How many days will I be traveling? How much clothing will I need?
- Which important documents should I not forget? (e.g. ID card, passport, booking confirmation, etc.)
- Which skincare and hygiene products would I like to bring?
- What about devices and charging cables?
- Do I need to bring snacks or food?
- Which medications do I need to remember?
Tip 2: Start Packing Early!
Packing is often associated with stress—especially if you only start the day before leaving. Use the days leading up to your trip and pack your suitcase step by step. This allows you to organize everything calmly, even without a packing list.
If you already have an idea of what you’d like to bring, feel free to do a “trial run” ahead of time. Pack your suitcase completely once and see how everything fits together: Do I need to leave anything behind, or is there room for more?
Tip 3: Bring Only the Essentials!
Clothing, in particular, can make it difficult to find the right balance. You don’t want to pack too much—but you also don’t want to pack too little, because unexpected situations can happen on vacation too. The weather can also create uncertainty: Will it be warm or cool? Sunny or rainy?
That’s why it’s important to keep an eye on the weather forecast for your travel period. Even a rough idea can help narrow down your outfit choices. Also think about simple outfit combinations to save space in your suitcase. And depending on your destination, remember: if you do end up missing something, there’s often an opportunity to quickly wash clothes on-site—or even enjoy a little shopping trip.
Also remember not to overpack your suitcase! Vacations often come with souvenirs and little treasures you may want to bring home. So leave a little extra space for potential keepsakes.
Tip 4: Choose Small Travel Sizes!
Full-size skincare products take up a lot of space in your luggage. That’s why it’s often more practical to choose travel-sized products that fit easily into your cosmetic bag. Simply transfer your favorite products into small bottles or pick up suitable travel-size versions while shopping.
Did you know that our Herbacin skincare and haircare favorites for the shower are also available in convenient travel sizes? Perfect for your travel bag! Our little green Pamper-Yourself-Trio brings refreshing vacation vibes, while our red care trio keeps you feeling well cared for throughout your trip.
And don’t forget your hands while traveling! Especially in summer, skin can dry out quickly and needs extra moisture and care. The small tins included in our Herbacin Hand & Skin Care Sets are especially practical and fit perfectly into any travel luggage—keeping your hands beautifully cared for even on the go.
Tip 5: Get Enough Sleep Before Your Trip!
Getting enough sleep is always important—especially before a long journey. But excitement and anticipation are well known for keeping us awake before vacation. Try going to bed early, even if you don’t feel particularly tired yet. Simply resting already helps your body recharge and gather energy—energy it will need the next day to handle the journey comfortably.
If you’re flying late at night, you can of course use the time on the plane to give your body the rest it needs. That way, you can already use your arrival day for your first little adventures and sightseeing moments!
Pure Relaxation — Even Before the Vacation Begins
Vacations are meant for rest and relaxation — which means the preparation should also be approached calmly and mindfully. The more relaxed you are when starting your vacation, the more refreshed you’ll feel when you return home.
